Storage & Packing Tips
Try to:
Utilize the space in your unit efficiently. Try to make a plan out the organization of your unit ahead of time, leaving an aisle open in the center so you can get access to the entire wall space.
Use shelving to take advantage of available vertical space.
Stack smaller boxes on top of larger boxes.
Use wardrobe boxes to stack clothing.
Label your boxes on multiple sides to gain quick access to the items you’re looking for.
Use furniture covers, blankets, and tarps to protect furniture.
Store frequently needed items near the front of your unit.
Make sure any kitchen appliances you’re storing don’t have water in them, as this can cause serious mildew.
Don’t try to:
Skip planning the organization of your unit if you have a lot of items. Planning the organization of your unit will make item retrieval a lot easier.
Stack unsturdy items on top of one another. Use shelving where needed.
Stack larger boxes on top of smaller boxes.
Store clothing folded in boxes. Try to use wardrobe boxes.
Skip labeling your boxes, as this may cause difficult later on when attempting to retrieve items.
Stack items on furniture which might cause scratching or gashing.
Store kitchen appliances with water still in them, as they will eventually mildew, possibly ruining your appliance as well as other items.
